I recently got 2 new chickens after one of my Orphingtons was killed by a stray cat. They are 3 month old Ameraucanas and they stink! I’m wondering if it’s because they weren’t able to eat grass and weren’t offered treats at the place I bought them. They had a outside run but it was bare to the dirt. It was clean and seemed like a nicely ran farm. We have a free range yard for the day and a coop with a run at night. They are going nuts for the bugs and grass and I wonder if their stomachs are just adjusting. This is also my first time with Ameraucanas so maybe their poop is just stinkier. Any help would be great!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Dietary changes will upset their digestive systems. You might put some probiotics in their water for a week or two, change the water out daily. Make sure they are on chick starter feed and keep the treats down to a dull roar, they need to eat a fortified diet to grow healthy and strong. Enjoy your new flock!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I second what @TwoCrows said about trying some probiotics. Mine get some every other day in the way of fermented grains, but we also have probiotic powder for the water for the wee ones I give before I take them outside for the first few times.
