I bought 10 Easteregger chicks from TSC about 8 weeks ago and I am wondering when is a good time to introduce them to my older chickens. I moved them outside a couple weeks ago and put them in a section of the existing coop so they could see what is going on without them getting hurt. When is a good time to open the door and let them mingle?

Hello Carla, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Now would be a good time.
Before you do, ensure you have lots of things in the run for them to perch on, dig through and hide behind. More than one food and water station positioned far apart will also help.

Welcome to BYC!! We’re glad you joined! Sounds like you’re already on the right track. Do you free range them at all or are they strictly in the run? If you free range them you can let them out together for small supervised increments, getting longer continually. If they’re strictly in the run I would essentially do the same thing but make sure they have a place to hide out in case things start to go south.
