Welcome to BYC!! We’re glad you joined! Sounds like you’re already on the right track. Do you free range them at all or are they strictly in the run? If you free range them you can let them out together for small supervised increments, getting longer continually. If they’re strictly in the run I would essentially do the same thing but make sure they have a place to hide out in case things start to go south.
Our chicken yard is 75 feet by 30 feet and we do not mow it so the weeds are high and there are several trees. There are some limbs down too so it is a playground for the chickens and I think they could hide easily
