Salutations everyone! I have heard about this site quite a while ago from Michigan Sportsman.com and finally have a reason to join up. I've got two chickens and a rooster and one of our hens is sitting tight on her nest. I recently had heard that the rooster may kill any new chicks. After a little research on here and elsewhere, I believe that may not necessarily be the case and guess I will just wait and see.
I live in the middle of the mitten (kind of) and have had these chickens for almost a year. We started out with about 10 and some "escaped" and a few others came up "missing" until we had no chickens. I inherited two hens from my brother and later inherited a rooster from somewhere else, thus my chicken farm.
I enjoy these goofy birds and hope to have them around for a while!
I also hope to glean much information you this site. Just wish I had joined sooner!

Alright Ric

So sorry about your past losses but chickens do need to be secured as the wildlife just loves the way they taste and they really are just so easy to catch and I do believe that is the major reason people loose their chickens with disease coming in second place ...
