Hello, I’m new to actually joining this site, but I’ve been reading some of the forums for a while now. My son and I just recently hatched 7 out of 12 eggs in our homemade incubator on May 1st. They’re adorable fluffy little mixed breed chicks that we hatched from eggs given to us from our friends flock. We’re loving the experience so far. Here are some photos of a few of them. 5F695B21-90E0-401D-818D-0B7EEB5D5885.jpeg 2C9F2889-3792-4736-9E86-0EE0C1A0DB4E.jpeg 82279634-0042-4BC2-B1A8-F96A884E6D7C.jpeg 24451FC5-A4C7-443F-9D39-483852AAAB3D.jpeg 31FC6F5A-1B6B-4A18-81D1-7A159AF6B78D.jpeg AF8AE724-247C-4A55-B040-933024913E3D.jpeg B6F7A62C-07C0-4FFD-BF50-E39011DA7CA7.jpeg

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Congratulations on the successful hatch! What are your plans for the cockerels?

I’m not sure yet how many out of the 7 chicks are cockerels. I’m anxiously waiting to find out. We are 99% sure of one of them, and I suspect two others. I have a friend that will take one for their flock. I think as long as they get along, I would happily keep two, and we’ll have to get some more girls to balance things out. If we end up with more than three we’ll have to find nice homes for the rest. We’re growing so attached to all of them, that part is going to be really hard. They will be our pets. We won’t be eating any of them :)
