Welcome to BYC! I wouldn't use chicken wire for anything, it's way too easy for most predators to rip right through. I agree with @rjohns39 hardware cloth is much safer.

Hi there! in the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic I realized I was going to become a teacher so.....I’m not great at math pretty good at history and English but what I’m most interested in is agriculture and animals so we decided to get chickens I of course an going to have thousands of questions these chickens are getting bigger my coop looks pretty small and I’m not sure what I’m doing so I’m very pleased to a found this forum
Ok.... I am almost there!!! Rain for the past two days halted progress but today was cool and sunny!! I wasn’t able to get to the store to get the hardware cloth so for the meantime I just use the chicken wire I intend to put the hardware cloth around the perimeter and over top I should be doing that in the next couple of days but here I am 60 ft.² of free range space and the coop is pretty much done!!1/2" hardware cloth is considered the GOLD Standard for fencing.
Oh gosh me either!!! Hardware cloth tomorrow is on the agenda. Then... I will be finished... until I had a few more in the springSorry, I didn't want to respond without saying you did an amazing job in a really short period of time. I just don't want you to lose one of your babies!
