I've been a bit of a lurker for the last year, but I've decided to commit.
I had chickens as a kid, but mostly as pets that only lasted until the next wild animal took it out. Not super happy memories in that respect, but now that I'm a mom and have some land, I'm ready to give it a proper go. We don't have any chicks yet, but I hope to start the building faze in a few weeks then order my first batch of chickies. I'm hoping to eventually have great layers with lots of eggs for us and to share with friends/neighbors. I'm chicken -haha- when it comes to actually killing/prepping animals for food, so eggs is probably the only purpose for our little flock to be. Along with the chickens, I hope to have a bountiful veggie garden as well.
