Hi! My name is Sandee and I guess you can say that I am new to the backyard chicken world.
I first got chickens around Mothers Day this year. Hubby decided to surprise me with 6 Rhode Island Reds. I have been wanting chickens for a long time. People around my area laugh at me when they see me coop because I painted it purple and white and the girls have their names on tags and on the pen. I even named my coop. I do let them free range during the day when I am home and when hubby gets home from work he lets them loose.
My girls will be 18 weeks old on my birthday this month (the 21st). I am looking forward to getting eggs. It cant happen soon enough!
I am a pretty crafty person and do a lot of sewing, embroidery and 3D printing. I honestly dont know how I find the time with my job. I drive a school bus 8 hours a day or more.
I am married. I have 4 children. 3 grand children. I have 3 awesome dogs, 1 Quaker parrot, 2 sugar gliders, 1 bearded dragon and 3 fish. People say i have a regular petting zoo.
I am hoping by joining this community I can get tons of information and meet new people! Because honestly, people keep telling me that I will get board with my girly girls. HA! I dont believe that for a minute.

I can’t imagine getting bored with chickens.... not a single moment in over 10 years with them has been boring or bothersome... unlike some people
