Hi! New here.

Hi, I'm new here!

We have had chickens for 2 years now. It started as a small homeschool project for my daughter and over the summer turned into her business that she conducted at farmers markets and our driveway.

At this time we have 45 chickens and 30 quail, and plan expanding to meat chickens next year as well.

We have so many different breeds. Rhode Islands, Isa Browns, White Leghorn, Black Copper Marans, Amberlink, Jersey Giants, Blue Rocks, Barred Rocks, Pearlstar Leghorns, Silver Duckwings, Old English Game, Americana, Olive Eggers, Barnyard Mixes and Buckeyes. We also have Coturnix quail.

I really enjoy watching them but i also love that my daughter has a chance to learn so much from them.

I enjoy herbalism, hunting and really my biggest hobby is learning new hobbies.🤣

I'm a stay at home mom of a 7 year old girl. My husband is an electrician. We have taken the more natural homeschool path and let our daughter learn through experience. She basically does school everyday. We also have a Chiweenie dog, 2 pet crabs, and will be adding worm farms and an ant farm soon.

I have been scrounging around the internet for weeks trying to find some answers about our quail with no luck. Im hoping to gain some knowledge from this forum I ran arlcross while browsing.

Thanks for letting me in.

Glad to meet you, and welcome to BYC. I presume you have already found the Quail forum. There are lots of quail fanciers here, coturnix and other types as well. All are generous with their knowledge.

Here are a few of the quail articles I have found here that were helpful to me:

1. Beginners guide to hatching quail eggs and Coturnix incubation tips
2, Coturnix basic care
3. Treats for quail (a discussion not an article)
4. Discussion of problems finding egg cartons for the biggest Jumbo Quail eggs.
5. Common mistakes poultry keepers make & how to fix them (applies to quail as well as hens and other barnyard birds)
6. Diseases quail can get from chickens and Quail diseases, keeping them healthy
7. How to process your quail *warning: step by step with gory pictures.

You can locate articles on BYC by using the SEARCH button and choosing Advanced Search. Then select ARTICLES at the top of the search box. Then enter your keyword(s).
