I am pretty new to the chicken raising business. My parents had chickens when I was a kid and recently my mom passed from alzheimers and I inherited her farm. So... last May I decided to buy a couple of chickens for fun. I just couln't stop with a couple. I lost my big tom turkey and 11 chickens to a dog attack a few weeks ago. I have several chickens,( mostly roosters now, since the attack) and 6 geese and 4 ducks, and 6 guinea's. I just bought an incubator and set eggs this past Friday. I have been reading how you all do it and I am thinking, I may not get good results. We will see I guess. I didnt know about the lockdown thing so I have been adding eggs every day, I do date them but they will (hopefully) hatch over several days. I will candle them later in the week and see if any are even fertile. My male duck is very active, but I have never seen him.... hit the mark, shall we say. He seems to climb on sidways, or on their heads, so I am not at all sure my duck eggs are any good. But he gets an A for effort.lol
