Hi, new member here and I’m really green but I’m not chicken

So glad to have found this site. I’ve wanted to have backyard chickens for awhile now and found our covenants allow for 4. Well I guess that’s a start. I don’t yet have a coop, chickens or much know how—I just have the backyard...and enthusiasm. My biggest concern is for predators. We have snakes and raccoons and live near a forested area. So big concern here. Any best ideas for getting off on the right foot would be appreciated.

Welcome to BYC!! We have the same situation here, snakes are always tricky to prevent! They seem to find their ways everywhere, so make sure to keep checking on the chickens every now and then if they are in the run or in the coop! Good luck!!
