Chickens have always been a big part of my childhood! I guess its possible to say I might become a crazy chicken lady instead of a crazy cat lady :P
My grandfather was well known in our town as the chicken man and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the work we did together taking care of all his chickens :) Now that I am in my own house I have started my own coop with my own flock :D
currently I have 5 Ameraucanas (probably "easter eggers") with one mistery chick that is black, and I am being shipped 10 Barred Rocks 5 Buff Orpingtons and should be getting 3 Rhode Island Red adults. Although I was raised around chickens and have a good common knowledge, any additional information or personal experiences are appreciated! I'm also very curious about feed choices and why or why nots :P

these are the first of the chicks to arrive! "Ameraucana"

They are adorable!!

You might want to stop by our learning center here on BYC. Lots of good reads on all the aspects of keeping poultry from building the coop, raising your new babies, feeding an adult flock and keeping them healthy...

Enjoy your new babies and welcome to BYC!
