I just wanted to say hello and thank you for all those who contribute to this site. I’ve learned a lot about chickens in a very short amount of time and the info here is like gold!
I built my coop and run out of wood pallets and reclaimed lumber…I have more money in screws to hold it together than I do in wood…lol.
One important thing I would like to share pertains to stick-tight fleas and boy did I learn a lot them here on this site. For those whose chickens are suffering from these nasty critters, I want to share what worked for me almost immediately.
I dusted both my chickens in poultry dust with Permethrin, and then I made a paste with the poultry dust and Vaseline. I carefully applied the paste to all the affected areas and applied a good amount of DE to both the coop and run. Within hours, the fleas were falling off and after two days, most fleas are gone.
Again, thank you to all those who take the time to educate us who are new to raising chickens!
