Hi! New to chickens and BYC :-)

Hi! My husband, son and I are all new chicken owners, having gotten our first 1 day old chicks about 6 weeks ago. We had a short run of pasty butt and have had no other problems. We completely LOVE our chickens and have had lots of fun with them. We *just* finished our coop today and are looking forward to getting the run done so they don't have to be cooped up anymore. We try to make sure they get at least 1 hour a day for free range time right now.

We live in the city and have a lot limit of 20 chickens, although we only have 6 right now and will probably top out at 8 birds unless we move someday. We built our coop to 4'x almost 7'. Our run will be 150sqft. and they will have open access to it at all times, so I think we will be fine with 8 birds if I have my chicken math right.

I want to post pics of our coop, because I am pretty proud of it, so I'm going to try and figure out the best place to do that.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and have been reading here for weeks gathering info and decided it was time to join up.

I live in the city too, so I can understand about you not wanting to get 20 chickens. We have three, and that's plenty enough for escapees, poo all over the path and dust bathing holes.
