My Barred Rock is going thru her 1st moult and she too has Diarrhea. I am concern b/c it is serious diarrhea going on the second week, but it it isn't foaming or any of those poop pictures that are suppose to cause concern.
She is about 18 months old.
I keep only two hens and my Buff Brahma is fine. She went thru the moult about two months earlier and is just finishing up and her poop is small and formed. Neither are laying at this time.
I saw no signs of worms, and I have looked. But I wormed the ladies as recommend here, just incase I was missing something. No changes.
BR crop feels full each night on the roost and I am adding food to the feeder. They have a heated water dish in the coop and in the windbreak and have feeders in both locations too.
They live in a small (4 hen size ) insulated coop with out added heat or light in Montana and nights are sub-freezing and days can be nice or nasty. I top off the floor each am with fresh bedding, and pull it all out every 3 or 4th week. With this Diarrhea I have been pulling out the bedding where they roost each am to keep it "clean & dry"
On warm days the two ladies are out and wandering around their and my yard, and forage. They dust bathe and today the BR was sunbathing.
I have checked them for parasites and no sign of them.
This girl is going on the second week of this. Is it the stress of the moult or do you think that this is something else and I should be trying something else. She seems healthy in every other aspect except for this ongoing poop problem, and it doesn't seem to be spreading.
thanks for any help or insight!
