Hi! New to poultry and site!

Hi I about a month ago I got this crazy idea (my dads words not mine)that I should get chickens. I just got the stuff to build my coop and then I just have to find my chickens which is not as easy to do as I thought it would be!!

I will take any hints I can get! I had really wanted to get some barred rocks but can't seem to find any in my area.

barred rocks are good breeds. orpingtons, rhode island reds, australorps, wyandottes, are some breeds that possess similar qualities.

Also look for your state thread in the Where am I? Where are you! section and ask the people there if they know of a breeder near you. Or maybe one of them will have some chickens for you. BR's are fairly common, I'm sure you'll find some. Just need a good lead!
