Hi! Newbie in Jersey

Hi! I am a stay at home mom of two boys, ages 2 1/2 years and 10 months and we are currently expecting our newest addition to the family, 25 baby chicks from McMurray.

They will be here the week of Nov. 15th. I ordered thier 'Rainbow Layer' variety. We have been planning to get chickens for awhile, we made arrangements to buy a dozen hens in October and the week we were picking them up someone offered more and we were not in a financial position to out bid so we lost them. We decided maybe getting chicks would be more fun anyway and placed our order. Currently my mom has a flock of 19 RI Reds, we visited her farm a couple times over the summer and got hooked on the fresh eggs. My kids LOVED the chickens! We have 3.5 acres and plan on fencing 1 acre for the chickens, they will have an additional 1/2 acre fall-spring in my garden. We will be keeping the girls inside until early spring, which should be fun, lol. We are so excited to get our babies. My husband even took off the week before they are due to help clean/build thier home.

Happy I found this site, I've already revised my brooder plans!
