Hi! Newbie to Chickens.

Hi All,

I am a proud new owner of 3 day old golden wyandottes and buckeyes (2 of each). I'm totally new to the world of chickens and am so excited to have found BYC! I'm sure I'll be full of questions - I actually have a couple already. My chicks are eating their poo - should I be concerned about this? Also, one of my chicks seems to stand on one leg a lot, when she walks on both she doesn't seem to limp or anything - she just holds it up when she stands still - is this normal? Thanks so much for any advice!

I never had chicks eat their poo. Maybe they're just pecking at it? Yes, it is normal for a chick to stand on one leg. Mine will do that too.

It's normal for chicks to eat a bit of their mama's poop when broody raised, and I've seen chicks do it. I wouldn't worry.
