Hi I'm new to chicks and all the diseases out there. I'm a little overwhelmed with all the diseases that can happen to my little chicks and I want to double check that they are healthy. I have 16 chicks with mixed ages of 3-4 days and 10 days maybe some in-between that I got the last couple of days. They're all vaccinated from mareks. I have been giving them save a chick electrolyte and probiotics and I will ocassionaly switch it up to apple cider vinegar.
I clean out their brooder once or twice a day but the past two days I left some droppings under the cage ( the cage is lifted with hardware cloth so the pine shavings and poop fall through, it's a mess)
Here's my worries:
-One of my chicks shakes when I held it yesterday and this morning but not right now. Is it just cold? ( it's about 4-6 days old)
-Another one sometimes opens its mouth once in awhile.
-Some times they will cry really loud until I come over and soothe them with my voice.
-One of them had pasty butt but I've treated it and it's separated from the others, but with a friend that doesn't pick at it's bum.
-heres a picture of it's poop that I couldn't find out if it's normal or not on here.

I have corrid just in case so of I need to use it let me know. I also have a picture of the brooder.

Please let me know anything I can improve.

Were the other chicks picking at the one with pasty butt or just when it was dirty? I personally wouldn't separate for pasty butt. If they are constantly chirping loudly they may be cold. Do you have a thermometer to test the brooder temperature? Also poop looks fine to me.

Yeah there was one that was picking at the pasty butt's hiney. That's why I separated . I have an eco glow going so the back legs are lower for the younger chicks and the from legs are higher but I'm kinda getting frustrated with it because I'm always moving it up or down trying to find the perfect temp for them. I may switch to a red light soon. They are always chirping but they're not huddling together like they're cold. More like talking and sometimes a tad complaining?🤣

I'd consider if space is an issue. Not sure where you are located. But if it's drafty maybe add cardboard to a couple sides to keep the temperature more consistent. I only have experience with a heat lamp inside on my kitchen table🤣😂

That's a good point. Draftyness and adding cardboard.
I have them in the living room ( we have hardwood floors) but it can be drafty.
I'm going to change the ecoglow to a red light and move the ecoglow to where the pasty butt chick is with it's friend and keep you guys updated.
🤣I definitely feel like I'm overreacting but it's hard to work (I work from home) when I hear crying occasionally.

I'd like to add that I saw a significant decrease in chirping when I upgraded their brooder. I'd consider putting the chicks back with the others asap😊 I'll post a couple pictures of ours as they upgraded.

I put them back in a couple of hours ago and I switched the ecoglow for a red heat lamp. They're much more quiet. The one with the pasty butt that I put back in has a bald butt from it picking at it. I've come to the conclusion I've done the best I can do and I just have to wait and see. The only thing is there's one that just walks around cruing sometimes when all the others are asleep. It then goes to sleep and is fine. It will also fall asleep in my hand. Not sure about that one. It's the runt. Wait and see game I guess.

I'm curious how much was your upgraded brooder and where did you get it? Can you purchase it online? It looks like a nice setup you got going on.
