What did you do in the garden today?

Got a pot of green beans cooking and the pickling cucumbers are scrubbed, de-blossom-ended and soaking in saltwater. I'll make dill pickles this afternoon. Cheesecloth will be delivered today so I'll have it for my pectin and jelly making projects, probably tomorrow.

This tomato had a hole in the bottom of it but I was curious how much it weighed and it was around 0.5lbs. It made me realize that I definitely have a couple 1.5+ lbs tomatoes

Already too hot and humid outside. Took a quick garden walk.

I looked it up and it said it wasn’t possible but maybe it could be a cross pollination between 2 watermelon varieties and it caused the weird shape. one small variety and one bigger or something?

Maybe. Will see how they taste. I got the plants from store bc I was so far behind in planting. Will see how they taste!

I bet your granddaughter loves doing that with you- I wish our season was a little longer so we could plant some tomatoes at this time of year.

Actually she's not really down for gardening. The oldest grandson and youngest granddaughter are more comfortable than the rest of them. The youngest granddaughter is really into getting her hands dirty. She also loves collecting the eggs.

We are going camping for 3ish days so I watered everything as well as I could. I froze all of the ripe tomatoes. Hopefully all my plants are good when I come back. It is supposed to be super hot and sunny so I’m a bit worried but nothing I can do
