Hi there, everyone

How large is the coop?
Well, we bought one from Tractor Supply that is supposed to hold ten, which we were told means it's going to be very tight for ten chickens. So we're buying a second smaller one before this batch of chicks goes outside. We found a man who is selling a small homemade one that will work just fine for the second coop.

This whole experience is a huge learning process. I already know so much more than I did a few days ago before I bought the chicks, and I still know nothing, lol.

Each chicken should have minimum of 4sq ft of coop space, 10sq ft of run space, 1 linear foot of roost, 1 nesting box per 4 hens, and 1sq ft of permanent ventilation.
So for 12 chickens you would need 48sq ft of coop space, 120sq ft of run space, 12 ft of roost, 3 nesting boxes, and 12sq ft of ventilation.
What breeds of chickens did you get?

Unless you plan to keep two separate flocks that will not roost in separate coops.
