I've been on backyardchickens for a while now but I guess I never introduced myself.
Im anewer chicken owner AGAIN. I had chickens years ago but decided to get more when the world when on lockdown due to covid. Homeschooling my kids due to school closures I decided hatching eggs would be a fun science project. So my 3 kids and I started our science project that hasn't ended.
We currently have approx 30 chickens. My goal is at least 1 of each support cool or rare chicken breed.
Some of the breeds were have are Ayam cemani, sultan, Americanas, applenzeller spitzhauben, gold spitzhauben, frizzles, white leghorn, barnevelder, gold and silver wyandotte, cream crested legbar, showgirls, mille d'flurre, polish, crevecour, houdan, seramas, and I breed silkies. I feel like I'm forgetting some.
We have loved getting more chickens. My kids are 10 and 8 and they all take every school break outside in one of our 3 chicken coops loving on their favorite chickens or looking for eggs.
Im a stay at home mom now with a back ground in office work. I worked at a private preschool until this covid-19 stuff. Now I'm home helping my 3 kids with online school.
I found this group by searching for answers to questions about my chickens. I've enjoyed having a place that others can help with things from breed identity, gender identity and illness.
