(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had 3 hens that are now about 5 years old. Before these ladies I had zero experience
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I still have 3 of my ladies of 5 years, I just purchased 12 chicks and had 1 cockarel and hen recently dumped in my yard.
(3) What breeds do you have?
My old ladies as I call them
1 is a barred rock
1 is a Australorp
1 is a Mutt that was in a you guess it bin
The 12 chicks are a variety, few Brahmas, few Buff orpingtons, a couple Heavy breeds and a Frizzle.
The two two abandons I am uncertain
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I just love having chickens around! The eggs are an added bonus
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to kyack and have been known to hit the gym several times a week
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm married and between my husband and I have 5 kids 3 grown and 2 young teenagers. We have an African grey parrot, Orange winged Amazon parrot a couple parakeets, a toy poodle and a pit bull mix.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I actually read alot of the site when I got my ladies years back. Just decided to join in and hopefully learn more now that I have a growing flock
