Good day,

Just a quick hallo from South Africa. I have been browsing this site for a while now and finally decided to join, since we got our mutts yesterday! (Sold to us as mixed bantams). In South Africa everything is mixed, haha. Very difficult to get pure breeds unless you are willing to pay big bucks.

Everyone in South Africa is busy going off the grid in more ways than one, aquaponics chicken coops, renewable energy etc. At my daughters school they have two laying hens to teach them responsibility (feeding of the flock, cleaning of the coop etc). Since she loves them it was easy for me to take that tangent to get the chickens.

Will try to take a photo of our two later. For a possible identification of what breeds they contain. Aswell as to ensure they are indeed pullets.

Kind regards
Andries Jansen

Welcome to BYC, Andries. Glad you decided join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. I'll look forward to seeing your photos.

Good morning and welcome!

Please let us know if we can be of assistance. We would love to see pics of the chickens!! Have a great day!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I am sure your daughter will love her banties. We'd love to take a guess at what gender they are.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Lets see: here they are in their "inside house" while we are having some rain

About the best photo I have now of the one with the light head and feather feet.
