Hi there,

I'm new to the forum. I have been kind of cyber stalking for a few years. I google things and it takes me to the forum so I figured I might as well make an account because i always have questions.

I have had my own chickens since 2009. This year we got some "hand-me down" chickens that I believe are pretty spent as layers. I am looking to get pure Dutch Barnevelders from Johan's line. (however I may have a japanese (super tiny) barnevelder, but I am only interested in Standard size.) I am curious to know if anyone in Wisconsin or Minnesota have any eggs or chicks. Or if anyone is willing to ship them. I would love to have a hand in preserving this breed in America. I know here it is pretty sparce, but over in the Netherlands it is the most common chicken. CRAZY!

We live on a heritage farm. Meaning we prefer only heritage breeds of animals, and heirloom non GMO vegetables and fruits. We are small with just 4.5 acres, and just a few animals,(Pure Bred Jersey cow, and steer calf, 2 red wattle pigs (again preserving the breed) 1 russian boar, 5 Khaki Campbell ducks, and about 8 sussex ducks, and about 20 chickens. We are hoping to soon grow and maybe even have a CSA. I blog about our adventures at http://www.crunchy-farmgirl.blogspot.com

My other interests besides homesteading are arts and crafts, I have illustrated 2 published children's books (so far) and am hoping to do some farm related children's books. I love everything health/traditional foods. I consider my self a Real Foodie. I also am an herbalist for my family. We rarely go to the doctor, and when we do we usually end-up using herbs anyway because the western medicine did not do its job.

I think that is it for now, otherwise I will end up writing an entire book on this one post.
