I became a chicken person when I bought my house...it came with my present flock and was one of the reasons I wanted this house! The 5 ladies are about four and a half years probably, at least I think so. I love them all and don’t care about how many eggs they give me. There are 2 Wyandottes, 2 Australorps and one very feisty Orphington/Easter Egger. They don’t like to be handled, but do eat from my hands and run to greet me when I enter their yard. I realize this is less love and more hunger, but again I don’t care, they’re still my girls. I am so grateful to be part of this group.

G’Day from down under Portlandchic :frow Welcome!

I read an introduction not so long ago where someone had gone to a farm to buy some chickens and ended up buying the farm :lau

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
