Hi there - I am new here

thanks - that picture with the chickens is the barn - the small white "house" next to the barn used to be a milk house - still has the milk container in there (and it will never leave as the place was built around it and it would never fit out the door) - I use the milk house as a hen house now - the chickens were roosting up in that tree in the picture - but when it got really cold they started using the milk house instead. Now instead of laying eggs in the dog houses, they lay in the house. Works well.

Here is a picture of MY house - I love my place, it was built in 1780, typical Central PA farmhouse (barn built in 1800's).

Welcome to BYC. That is our dream to one day have a home in Pa. with a nice piece of land. Was the house updated or is there a lot of original flooring, sinks, radiators & so on.

thanks!! My house was built in 1780, so yes it's been updated since then! But it's mostly still original - hardwood plank floors, with some of the planks being 18" wide (I love wood floors) - heated by forced steam (radiators) and still has the original fireplaces - exposed beam ceilings on the ground floor, 6-pane windows with original glass. The kitchen is the most modern area. it's a great old house and very comfy.

here's a picture of it from the back side - you can see the summer kitchen in this shot, behind the house.

I have friends in Perkasie/Sellersville, and they are freezing their butts off right now! I love calling them and telling them that I'm in flip flops and a tank top, on my way to the beach.
