Well I was raised around chickens when I was much younger. I always wanted since youth to have a few and 2 years started with 3. I had one become egg bound and pass on. April i added 2 road island red chicks, and they are growing. My older birds are mixed breeds. The RIR chicks are to be both hens, I am having slight doubts on one though. Their 15 weeks old now....no crowing yet, one looks ever so slightly different. I have been very lucky with no problems other than the one dying. I look forward to reading all of the post, and learning new ways to raise birds.

@15 weeks old, you would know if one was a cockerel. RIRs have big combs and wattles for pullets--Bigger than some breeds cockerels
