Newbie here. Don't even have my chickens yet :) We are finishing up our coop construction and the chicks will arrive in a few weeks. We are planning for 3-4 as we live in the city and in a neighborhood. We will truly be backyard chicken keepers. This will be our first time with chickens, but we already have a small herd of animals: 5 cats, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, a bearded dragon and some fish. I'm excited to get started but very nervous. I'm hoping that I'm making this all much harder in my head than it's going to be :) Thanks for all the great information I have gotten from this site!

Welcome!

I recommend a visit to the Learning Centre; lots of good tips there: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
