My grandmother had chickens when I was a kid. I always loved going out to her farm in Virginia during the summer. Fast forward 30 years and I'm now living in the suburbs with my husband and two kids. We bought quail because we live in a rental and our landlord was only ok with quail. We're looking for our own property now where we dream of having our own ducks, a few goats and few dogs.
I came to BackYardChickens.com because the forum came up whenever I was looking at different chicken breeds. Every time I added a new breed to my growing wishlist there would be a review of it here. Once we bought our quail hatching eggs it was a no brainer to join the community.
When I'm not dreaming of chickens, quail or ducks I'm also into gardening, travelling, learning languages and roller derby.
We have a family cat who is meaner than sin and eats too many seedlings before going in the garden. (She is an excellent mouse catcher) A dog that has adopted us despite our best efforts to politely say no. Both of them have found a place in our hearts and our home.
