Hi there!
I’m Ashley and I’m living my dream with my chickens and ducks! I’ve always been a city slicker but last year we moved to the country and this year, it’s all things birds, gardens, and mini-homesteading.
I have 16 chickens and 5 ducks currently. 3 Ameraucanas, 3 Black Copper Marans (1 cockerel), 3 Olive Eggers, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Polish cockerels, 1 Lavender Orpington cockerel, 2 sweet (and hopefully pullet!!) Silkies. We also have 3 Khaki Campbells, 1 Swedish Blue, and 1 White Pekin. We’ve got some downsizing to do. We’ve learned this week that we have a few too many boys. Anyone think I should replace them this year? I mean, how do you actually stop getting birds?
I love my girls. They are nosey and sweet and consistent. And in a couple months, they will be my first pets that actually earn their keep!

I have 3 littles. I homeschool. I’m diving into canning, gardening, chickens, composting, making just about everything from scratch. I used to be an OR nurse until a few years ago. Traded my RN badge for a SAHM badge.
My husband is an electric lineman and supports me in all my old lady, country adventures. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and crocheting.
I found BYC because I’ve googled just about everything under the sun while getting started in all this. Figured it was time to finally join the community.
