Hi! I'm the new girl on post. I'm in Central Texas and look forward to starting a flock "from scratch" (too early for chicken humor? ) my plan for a coop is to convert part of a quite large (10x12) existing pre-fab storage shed and add a run. How much of it do I need to use for 6-8 hens?

@debbiel , I think the general accepted minimum is 4 or 5 sq ft minimum per hen for the coop, but if you can provide more then do so.

Thanks for the coop info. I'll be sure to take before and after pics. The shed is pretty rough right now and I know the girls like a pretty house.
