Hi! I found this place when searching for information on chickens. These are my chickens. The white ones were battery hens that I rescued last year. Then they looked terrible now they're pretty. The others I got this year. Leghorn, EE and mixes.
Hi and glad you joined us. Would like you to know, so happy you took
x battery hens. And you should be proud, of yourself, as they are beautiful, with
you. Years ago when we had our farm, i also took x battery hens every year, i live
in UK, and mine was Warrens. Brilliant layers, first year i took in 10 then after that,
there was no stopping me. lol Just to see their little faces, when they were on grass.
We had the acres to be able to take them, plus i also bred my own. My husband use
to dread April coming. lol I would disappear and come home, with 30/40 of them.
They were free ranging, until the night, and we had a huge muck heap, outside our
barn. Where the pitch fork was stuck in there. When they seen me coming, all of them
would start clucking, they were telling me to turn the muck heap over, for worms.
Of course i did. lol Good memories. Your other chickens are also beautiful. You will
love it here, as everyone is so helpful, and friendly.
You've got a lovely flock. Kudos to you for rescuing the white ones, who can now live out their lives in previously unknown luxury.
Welcome to BYC, where people you will likely never meet are always willing to share their wisdom, celebrate your successes and support you in your challenges!
Welcome to the flock. Your birds are beautiful, I am so happy that you were able to rescue them. When I lived in SC, I'd see trucks going by that had them crammed into boxes where they could not move. Ton's of great information here.
