Am from southern part of Indiana, approx 30 miles from Louisville, Ky. Have just gotten started with 60 chicks of various breeds along with 14 turkey chicks. Have 2 daughters that are starting in 4H and are planning to show their young chickens come fair time.
Just getting finished with building a 8' X 16' roost and nest house. My biggest question at this time is how close can I put the roost poles to accomadate the chickens and turkeys? Was planning on 8" apart in both horizontal and vertical measurements.

from Ohio. So happy you joined. I have to agree with 1muttsfan, the roost should be the same height because they will fight to get to the highest level.
