(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Pretty new - Got the first ones in April 2022.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
4 adult hens and 6 hatched in mid-May 2023.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Adult hens are BPR, BPR, Leghorn, and ISA Brown. Babies are barnyard mix from a local person.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Different personalities of each bird and collecting eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crochet, crafting, reading, cooking/baking, gardening...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My name is Heather, I live in NW Georgia (USA), and I'm a Desert Storm Veteran. I'm a mom of 3 boys aged 28, 22, and 14. The teenager still lives at home with me and my fiance. We are self-employed and trying to be as sustainable as we can be. We have a small front yard garden and we move our two flocks of chickens around the back yard, mostly. We hunt deer from our back porch during the late fall and into winter (during "Deer Season") and enjoy trying to keep our freezer and pantry full of home-grown or home-hunted foods.

After searching for answers to questions about raising, caring for, and identifying different things with my own birds, BYC is always one of the top returned links.
