I read recently that it has to be absolutely dark for us to dream, and that's hard to come by. If there's a computer or even a clock in your room, a night light or a plug in room deodorizer, that's too much light. So I got one of those sleep masks and sure enough, I dream now and I didn't before. My sleep is more restorative and I don't wake up hung over from poor sleep.
I dunno, my dorm room is pretty bright cause of a streetlight outside and I nearly always dream. But I am also a weird sleeper and I have lots of dreams and usually remember them.

What about flying? @SkyAJK mentiined flying in her dreams, does anyone else fly in their dreams? I have a few times and it is so wonderful! I just take a little bouncy step and then there I am, soaring above everything effortlessly, like a kite or a bird! I love this dream except for the landings, which are still a little bit rough. Guess I need more practice! It feels so real and natural that I am always surprised afterward to realize I can't really fly!
Yes!!! I love flying dreams! I used to dream that I was a turkey vulture; I loved the buoyant feeling of catching a thermal. More recently though, I decided to turn into a raven to follow someone more stealthily and now I’m kind of stuck with it; I haven’t been a vulture since. Instead of that ecstatic soaring it’s just frantically beating my wings. :/

Here's another one:

I'm back in high school/college, have no idea what or where my classes are, and are usually in fear of not being able to graduate.

I don't think these started until my 30's, so you might need some distance from school to start dreaming about it. My husband has them too. Maybe they're just nerd dreams?
That's a classic that fits into the "I have a surprise test I haven't studied for" box. You're likely feeling unprepared by something you feel you really should have a handle on. Dreams often hold clues to real life. If you figure out the trigger IRL, the dreams should wane.

Flying dreams usually mean you're in a good place! You're in control (or just really enjoying the ride!)

I have never flown in a dream. But I "bound." I'm running down a hill, and my steps get longer and longer, and I go higher and higher. I feel very light.

One time, it was like I was on a raft, going down a thin little stream that had worn the purple-ish rocks very smooth. I was sliding along, very fast, it was a really smooth ride.
Same concept as flying, without the height. Those are usually good dreams reflecting something going well in your life.

... I laughed out loud at that line, because I thought EVERYONE must dream in color! Many years later, I had this kind of conversation with my MIL, and she was adamant that NOBODY dreams in color. I asked her, "But why wouldn't people dream in color? They see the world in color." In her (I'm right, you're wrong) way, she just blew me off and seemed to think I was lying or bragging about something I couldn't do.
It's a safe guess that her waking life was pretty black-and-white, too. Color in your dreams is a good thing.
