Hi everyone! I just got my first chicks a few weeks ago. At the moment I have 8 chicks (one just died :{ ), some a few weeks old, and some born a few days ago. I have a Buff Orpington, Ameracauna (I think), Golden-Laced Wynadotte, and Golden Comet. My second batch is: Two Silkies (one just died), an Easter Egger, and a Polish Chicken. I decided to join BYC cause I need some advice ( :)), and before I just needed help, I was using BYC for advice based on old threads!

I have a problem with my latest batch pecking the Polish (they already killed the weak Silkie), here. Thanks!

Hello, thanks for joining us! I would separate the Polish and silkies away from the dual purpose birds. They are 'different' looking and smaller, making them an easy target for the larger birds. Another thing to take into account, how much room do they have (I assume they are in a coop & run)? Over-crowding can cause aggression too.

Thanks! Actually, the strange thing is that the 2 Silkies nad the EE are the bullies!?!? Who would have thought that the Silkies are the bullies? Actually, ATM cause they are so small, they are in a decent-sized cardboard box.

UPDATE: We got 4 more chicks from a local store. So now we have the bullies in one box (and they don't really peck each other) - the EE, the 2 Silkies, and the new Americana (from the pet shop), and the 4 nice ones are together - the Polish, a Light Brahma, a Black Australorp, and a Barred Rock. Thanks for all your help!!
