So I'm pretty new at this. I order 6 chicks (hens) from Murray Hatchery, which was great. However what I received is unclear. thought maybe someone can help me identify which birds these are. it order was for 2 Red star, 2 whiting true green, and 2 Rhode island red.

Unless there's been some substitutions, the black and gray are your whiting true green, IMO.

The red star and RIR will look similar as chicks, although the red star will be white and red intermixed feathering, and the RIR will have speckling with dark brown/black in addition to the red/white. RIR chicks will be darker and have less white, generally, than the red star. I see both red star and RIR in your pictures for sure.

More pics of the gray and black chicks would be helpful. Did you tell the hatchery you were ok with substitutions, or order the "free" chick?

Can it be? on the photos on Murray web site the whiting true green are all brown with yellow feet.

True. It would be best to positively identify them as being some other breed, or did you tell McMurray it was okay to substitute chicks? We'll need in-focus pictures of comb, legs, shanks, feet, and body shape (side view) to see if they're some other breed.

There are black and gray Whiting True Blues. Maybe you were sent those instead?

I didn't look at the box to be honest. maybe they were substituted. I'll call Murrays now and see if they were and to what.

I'll be okay with anything except Roosters lol
