Hi yall

My DH and I live on a large farm in SC near the low country area. Empty nesters and retired. Bored with raising pine tree forests, horses, dogs and cats soooo...just got into chickens this past January. Really enjoying the eggs. Started with 10 BO laying pullets who will be 1 yr old in Apr. One BO roo same age who is so handsome and gentle. A "friend" (still thinking on that) gave me a BR bantam hen who started laying in February and BR Banty rooster. Then I wanted to hatch eggs, made homemade bator from BYC members posts. Bator broke halfway through, so hightailed it 45 miles to TSC on 11 March and bought Little Giant -still air- no turner bator....out of 16 BO eggs and 4 BR banties eggs I now have 8 fluffy BO and two BR banties hatched on 23 and 24 March. How in the world these eggs survived temp swings from 70 to 120 degrees, IDK. I had read the stories on BYC about hatches and chicks and just knew I would have bad luck. I feel very lucky! That trip to TSC cost me...little baby chicks had just arrived....purchased assorted bantams and BO chicks...yep! Got 'em running out of my ears now! Loving it. Will be throwing up some pics for yall to help identify mystery bantams from TSC.

Sometimes hatches go better when you don't obsess over them.
