I am excited about joining!! I look forward to learning more about chickens. I had a disabled chicken named Charlie years ago. She was a school hatching and one of her legs was on backwards. She also had a lot of problems with becoming egg bound and eventually developed an ovarian cyst. I took her to an avian specialist and she had surgery but did not live long after that. She was very special to me!! I now had a baby chick that I bought from a local farm supply store. They call him/her a meat chicken. I stood and watched her in her pen at the store. The other chicks were eating her alive. I asked 5 different employees in a 45 minute period to please remove her. They said ok and walked away and never came back. I finally could not take it any longer. She was a bloody mess and the other chick were pulling off her flesh and eating her. Even though the sign said no one was to open the pens I finally reached inside and removed her and took her to the register and bought her. I have not regret it one bit. She is a real joy!! I have named her Lane!!
