I am new to chickens as of this June. I began my flock with 16 pullets & 1 Cockrell of mixed breeds to kind of see what I like and got 13 pullets and I think 5 cockerels (the ftee exotic is apparently always a cockerel!)

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have 2 Buff Orpington, 2 Black Australorps, 3 Black Jersey Giants, 3 Dark Brahma, 1 Dominique, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte (I think), 1 Silver Duckwing Phoenix (free exotic) and an unidentified chicken!

Asking questions about my chickens has led me to BackYardChickens and I've found some great answers!

This is our first foray into any kind of animal keeping (other than dogs & cats) and it's only been a short time but my family is enjoying the chickens very much. They have provided hours of entertainment this summer for both of my sons and also lessons on life.
