I am new to owning chicks. My four children, fiancé and I live on a beautiful old farm in Kansas and decided we needed to bring some chickens into the picture. We let the kids pick out chicks and ended up with five Orpingtons, four Australorps and three Rhode Island Reds. They are about six weeks old and growing fast. I didn't realize just how fast they do grow. We have them in our garage, in a make shift coop, while we are refinishing the old coop that hasn't been used in probably fifty years, but it is beautiful and has great structure and potential for what we need. I have already learned so much from this site, I have to say I will be stealing some of the ideas for feeders and watering systems Glad to have stumbled across this for all the help and information.
