I always say beware of friends/neighbors/relatives bearing chickens as gifts. Usually they turn out to be roosters, or have some perplexing mental or physical shortcomings.

Wise words. Of the one's I've been given, one died, I've brought scaley leg mite with her and has been broody on and off, and one turned out to be a rooster. I must get better at saying no!
