I’m not necessarily a newbie to chickens, but I’ve been lurking on this site for a while and finally decided to join! My name’s Max!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first chickens about 7 years ago when I was 9!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Just about 19, although about 11 of them are chicks right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 black australorps; 1 porcelain d’uccle roo, 1 millefleur d’uccle hen, 6 black(?) d’uccle chicks and 2 porcelain(?) d’uccle chicks; 3 amercauna pullets of varying colours; 1 buff Orpington; 1 silver laced wyandotte; and 1 old English game hen.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Bird genetics mainly, I’ve been trying to find the answers to questions about prospective chicks and stuff by lurking on forums reading posts for a while!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I show livestock (mainly hogs) and ride horses, I also do digital art and plant + animal photography in my free time! I also am big into fish and reptile keeping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Outside of chickens we have 3 dogs, a cat, some rabbits, 3 horses, a steer, 2 lambs, and about 9(?) pigs. And a cockatiel! We live in a small village in northern Idaho, and have about 10 acres of property.
