Hi there!
My name is Carina and here's a bit about me and my soon to be flock!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had chickens for most of my life, I grew up on a small farm, however I have lived in Chicago for the last 6 years and I have finally bought my own home with a yard where I can have a few (3, maaaybe 4) cuties in my back yard!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None currently

(3) What breeds do you have?
I am looking at adopting orphingtons. Probably buff, but I do love black and white orphingtons. It would be cool if I could find a blue one!!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Chickens are just so fun, it so amazing to have a backyard friend that you give love to and they provide eggs that we can use every day. I have always loved chickens and the relationships between providing and giving that they give to us!
Theyre also so fun to watch and I LOVE that they have their own fun personalities.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am an artist and a data scientist. I love to paint and draw and also make maps! I am also an animal lover and love to rescue sweet animals that I can bring into my home. We have two house cats, a dog (who has grown up with chickens and loves them dearly) and a turtle that I rescued 4 years ago.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a GIS analyst and data methodologist for a large non profit social science research organization! I create maps and provide data analytics in a geographic context (a mouthful, yes). My partner and I live in the north west side of Chicago where we garden, play with our pets and create art and music together!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I just found BYC today!!! I am currently researching urban chicken coop options for my small flock. I am one for animal forums so I am ready to dive right in!

:yesss: :welcome :yesss:
Miss Piggy Sue says, “Welcome to our eggcelent flock here at BYC!”
