Hi everyone! I have had chickens for several years but recently sold them and got a new flock - my first 2-week-old chicks! There's a long story behind the chicks, including a bear attack , but now we have 7 pullets, some of which have just started laying!
I don't really know what breeds they are, as they're all mystery hybrids. One of our girls at least is a Silkie-Ayam Cemani mix and she's very sweet! We have gorgeous turquoise eggs from 2 of them, but the other ones haven't started yet. I am raising chickens as pets and egg producers, so most of our girls (and there's 2 who might be roos) will probably stay with us way into old age. I love them and am really excited to have pullets again!

Might also consider 2 feet apron 19g 1/2 inch hardware cloth at base of coop/run in case the bear breaks through the fence and digging predators.​

Thank you! I have 1/4 inch hardware wire which is embedded in the ground to about 6 inches down and a large metal bolt on the door of the coop... so hopefully that and the electric fence will predator-proof it completely
