(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had chickens growing up and just decided to get them again.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Zero. I'm planning on getting six chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
None right now. I used to have Red Sex Link.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The eggs, and watching chickens be chickens. It's very fun and soothing.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I ride and show horses (don't own my own though, sadly), I'm an avid reader and writer, and I love cooking and baking, and all sorts of crafting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a part-time newsroom assistant at a local paper, and a freshman through an online college program. I currently live at home with my parents and siblings (17, 13, and almost 11). My 11-year-old brother will be my co-chicken raiser. We have an outdoor bunny, Snowball, and an indoor cat, Thunder.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've known about it since before I got chickens before, and just now decided to sign up as I have a lot of questions right now. We are in the process of designing a new coop/run and after the disastrous consequences of the last one, I figured getting some advice would be a good idea!
