In the Brooder
Hi Everyone,
My name is Tim and I'm starting a backyard flock with my wife and two year old daughter. We live in the Black Country in the UK.
We've been meaning to do this for years but only recently have we had the free time and motivation to make our garden chicken friendly. We've divided our garden in half with some fence panels I made to keep the dogs separated when required and cleared a nice spot for our coop and run to go.
We bought a mix batch of 6 eggs from a local breeder as we aren't too fussy about breed right now. We're about to start incubating today, our incubator is just warming up and (hopefully) getting up to the right temperature and humidity.
My wife has raised chickens from eggs before but I'm a total newbie. We've got the River Cottage book on chickens and have read it front to back and feel somewhat prepared. You can't beat the advice of people that have done it before, though so I've decided to join this community to both chronicle our journey and get some feedback on our progress.
I look forward to sharing it all with you!
