Hi! My name is Carolyn.
I've had chickens twice. Once several years ago for about two years (gave them to a farm when we moved) and now. We moved to our current home right around the first of the year, and it came with eight delightful hens.
We have eight hens.
Two Barred Rock
Two Gold Laced Wyandott
Two Black Marans
One Buff Orpington
One Cream Brabanter
I'd say my favorite part of raising backyard chickens is how funny they are. They follow me around and ask for treats and they have *so* much personality!
And it's a great learning experience for my 10 year old son!
When I'm not working or tending to the chickens I am probably at the aikido dojo or out in the potting shed building something with clay.
I found BYC looking for suggestions to keep rats out, and have found several helpful posts. I decided to join the community because it seems like a friendly and supportive network.
Thanks all!
