well... Im not quite sure how this works, but... me and my family used to be huge farmers, we had a cow dozens of chickens an a couple of crazy dogs, then we had to sell our cow, our chickens were no longer laying eggs so we had to sell them too and the two dogs got out so much that we decided to find them a better home that could give them the attention that they needed, that was 5 years ago, we now have a sweet 2 year old golden retriver and two cats and my parents fiiiiiiiinally let me start incubating chickens, so thats why i came to this website, to make sure i do it right.

Do you have a calibrated thermometer and humidity gauge in your incubator?

Any can work...as long as you calibrate one thermometer you'll know how off the incubator is reading. I keep 4 or 5 thermometers in my bator at all times.
Humidity gauge...salt test it before you set eggs.

Flashlight...small is better. 750 lumens works well.

Most important thing is to learn how your incubator behaves for a few days to a week BEFORE you set eggs.

Temp spikes kill.
Slightly lower temps are not as deadly as temp spikes.
Too high humidity will cause problems.

Which bator do you have?
